Our View:

This is a selection of wines we really love - it has the freshness of the Riesling, the refinement of the Nebbiolo and a rare blended red from David Franz, son of the legendary Peter Lehman. An Australian take on Old World classics.

These three are wines that really ooze quality. The Ministry of Clouds Riesling is from Australia’s renowned Clare Valley, it’s even picked by hand in the cool of the night to ensure delicacy. It expresses pronounced aromas on the nose, lots of citrus fruit notes, lemon, lime, grapefruit, complemented by mineral and slightly floral notes on the palate.

The Adelina Nebbiolo - another hand harvested wine - is rare with just 966 bottles of this vintage produced. Drinking now but will still continue to mature in the bottle for many years to come. The palate is taught and focussed with underlying sweet fruit and complex earth and spicy tones.

This final wine of this selection is from the Barossa valley, David Franz’s Plane Turning Right - 3,700 bottles produced of a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that intertwine to produce a superb aromatic wine with complexity, intense flavour and an exceptional finish. The winemaker himself describes this wine as “yummy” and we defintely agree.
