Our View:
Australia and New Zealand are well known for their fantastic range of quality white wines and this selection showcases three of them.
From the vibrant Adelina winery in the Adelaide Hills of the Clare Valley in Australia, this must try New World Arneis is produced in a small vineyard with care. The Eternal Return is a great example of well balanced fruit flavours, good acidity and a rich mouthfeel. White stone fruit combines with minerals and fresh herbs. A dry finish with mineral acidity and powerful, persistent length. Ideal for a summer evening. The critics just love it too with many scores over 90 points.
Staying in the Clare Valley, using hand picked grapes, the Ministry of Clouds Riesling is a perfect summer wine, great with fish and seafood dishes, as you would expect, and really, really good with delicately spiced Asian dishes, especially Thai and Chinese. It’s a high quality wine from highly regarded producers who boast a range of quality wines on an exciting label, thought by many to be “one to watch” for the future.
Moving across the water to New Zealand we have a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from renowned producers Kim and Erica Crawford at Loveblock. This is a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc offering lovely fruit flavours, with delicate background herbaceous notes. The wine is medium bodied, giving a lovely mouthfeel, beautifully refreshing and the finish is long.
Try these three refreshing New World whites!
