Cossetti Barolo DOCG 2013, Piedmont, Italy

Regular price £32.00 Sale

Our View:

Barolo, perhaps the most famous and historic of Piedmont wines, renowned and appreciated around the world, comes from Nebbiolo grapes from the prestigious vineyards of Barolo. It is a magnificent red, with great structure, refined by ageing in Slavonian oak barrels. A long lived wine meant to accompany food, especially meat, game, venison dishes and aged cheeses.

This wine is still young for a Barolo but can be enjoyed today. It will continue to develop in bottle for years to come.

The Wine:

Cossetti has been producing quality wines since 1891. The business is now run by three sisters, the 4th generation of the family to be in control and who received their winemaking passion from their father, who made wines in Piedmont all his life. This wine is produced by soft crushing of grapes harvested at the right phenological ripeness, fermentation in steel vats at temperatures between 28 and 34° C with pump overs and punch downs. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for three years, as required by regulations, in oak barrels.

Tasting Note:

A long ageing refined wine with a garnet red colour and orangish highlights that intensify over time. Intense aromas of red and violet fruit with a fully  ample and velvety flavour and a spicy, light vanilla finish
