Our View:
A beautifully flavoured, highly drinkable, refreshing, dry Riesling, made using minimal intervention techniques by the innovative Koerner brothers. Only 4,800 bottles produced.
Delicate grapefruit and citrus fruit flavours with mouthwatering acidity. Enjoy this crisp, refreshing wine with fish, seafood, Asian food or on its own.
The Wine:
Koerner Wine is a partnership between brothers Damon and Jonathan Koerner. Their wines are produced from fruit grown in the Watervale area of the Clare Valley, with the majority coming from the family vineyard, Gullyview.
The Riesling fruit used to produce this wine was grown on a South East slope at the Northern end of the Gullyview Vineyard. The vines are 17 years old and planted on red clay on limestone, ‘Terra Rosa’ soil. The fruit was handpicked. Natural fermentation took place in a mix of ceramic eggs, stainless steel tanks and barriques, over a 3 week period. The wine spent 5 months maturing on its fine lees. Unfined, unfiltered, minimum sulphur.
Tasting Note:
Lovely delicate citrus flavours, lemon, lime and grapefruit. Delicate herbaceous background. Light and lean on the palate. Refreshing, mouthwatering acidity. Lightly textured. Highly refreshing. Highly drinkable!

What the critics say:
A mix of ferments including skin contact, ceramic egg, stainless tanks and barrels. Experimental but judicious thinking from the Koerner lads making these wines. Definitive grapefruit spectrum riesling. Scents of citrus pith, citrus blossoms, that freshness from a just-cut grapefruit. Light and lean in the palate, mouthwatering acidity, a little bite and grip in texture. Fresh as, refreshing as. Pretty wine of high drinkability and some good intensity. Great drinking, great character. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front. 93 points
