Maison Louis Jadot produce only wines from Burgundy and have been doing so since 1859. Their wines are instantly recognisable with the image of Bacchus' head on their labels. This example of a pinot noir comes from the northern part of the Cote de Nuits and expresses both black and red berries with firm yet graceful tannins. Enjoy on its own or it blends well with a range of savoury dishes.
The Wine:
Louis Jadot Gevrey Chambertin wines are produced in Burgundy's Cote de Nuits from vineyards lying on the extension of the slope on which the Grands and Premiers Crus are situated.
Gevrey-Chambertin is the northern most of the great communes of the Côte de Nuits. There are 26 Premiers Crus and 8 Grands Crus. Half of the Premiers Crus surround the Grands Crus and the other half are in the north, with clay and chalk soils.
The wine is made with destemmed grapes, fermented in vats for a period of 3 to 4 weeks. Ageing takes place in oak barrels produced by Louis Jadot's cooperage 'Cadus' for 18 months.

As Wine Spectator reviewed, the wine can be described as:
"The bright cherry core of this red is framed by smoke, vanilla and saline mineral notes. Vibrant and balanced, backed by dense tannins. The finish evokes dark cherry, plum and spice elements, extended by the lively acidity. Best from 2022 through 2042"
