A classic cool climate Australian Shiraz. Whilst layers of fruit and savoury notes build a wonderful complexity, the wine remains very drinkable. A top quality wine, highly regarded by critics, it’s perfect with beef and steak dishes and summer barbecues.

The Wine:
La Violetta began producing small quantities of wine at Denmark, on Western Australia's south coast, in 2008. Grapes are sourced from a handful of trusted growers with exceptional vineyards. Production is kept small scale so that each wine is personally handcrafted. The name ‘La Violetta’ derives from an old Piedmontese song celebrating intoxication. 'Up' is a suffix commonly found in place names in Western Australia’s south-west, meaning 'place of' in the indigenous Noongar dialect. This wine evokes the ancient granitic soils of its place of origin in the hills around Mount Barker.
Tasting Note:
Whole bunch fermentation brings black pepper and floral lift to this single-vineyard Shiraz’s fresh blackcurrant fruit. Chalky tannins and fresh acidity emphasise frame and elegance. Medium plum red appearance. Intense, complex and savoury with a fresh stalky spice on the nose and on the palate red fruit with a herbal note and tingling acidity.
